Czech University of Life Sciences (CZU) presented its project My ČZU App – Smart City App at the international event: “Smart City Expo World Congress 2025 – Barcelona as a Hub of Innovation.”
The Prague City Hall selected the My ČZU application and its Smart Campus solution as part of its presentation at the world’s largest event focused on smart cities, sustainability, and digital transformation: Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC), held on November 4–6, 2025, in Barcelona. This year’s edition welcomed more than 25,000 participants, 1,100 exhibitors, and 600 speakers from over 130 countries. The main theme was the challenge “The Time for Cities,” emphasizing the role of cities in addressing climate change, improving quality of life, and leveraging technology for sustainable development.
The program was divided into eight key areas:
- Enabling Technologies
- Energy & Environment
- Mobility
- Governance & Economy
- Living & Inclusion
- Infrastructure & Building
- Blue Economy
A new feature was the AI-enabled Cities zone, showcasing practical applications of artificial intelligence in city management, transportation, and public services.
Czech Participation – Record-Breaking Exhibit and Strong Presence
The Czech Republic showcased its largest national exhibit to date, covering 416 m2, organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade in cooperation with CzechTrade. The Czech pavilion, titled City for the Future, featured more than 60 organizations, including the cities of Prague, Brno, Plzeň, and Říčany, dozens of innovative companies, and seven universities.
During the expo and accompanying program, we had the opportunity to present not only the My ČZU application but also the entire unique campus of the Czech University of Life Sciences. The My ČZU app was also introduced to the Mayor of Prague, doc. MUDr. Bohuslav Svoboda, CSc., and City Councilor Bc. Michal Hroza.
Numerous meetings were held to discuss further cooperation opportunities within Prague as well as with foreign universities and technology partners. The event featured all major companies and organizations in the field of Smart Cities and urban innovation. The importance of universities as key partners in the process of sustainable urban development, aligned with residents’ needs, was repeatedly emphasized.
We had the chance to present the My ČZU application, which combines functions for managing both a smart city and a university. The app is open to the integration of all new technologies.
My ČZU – Your University in Your Pocket

- E-shop and personal script library
- Notifications about news and important campus updates
- Vehicle license plate registration for campus parking
- Easy connection and management of the Eduroam university network
- Campus navigation with points of interest, available in 3D and VR views
- Directory of university departments and services
- Daily menus of canteens and campus facilities
- Preparation for implementing smart technologies within the Smart Campus project
The project demonstrated how a university environment can be integrated with the Smart City concept, offering modern digital services to students, staff, and the public.
The presentation of the My ČZU app at SCEWC 2025 confirms that universities play a key role in the development of smart cities. Thanks to this platform, CZU ranks among innovators connecting academia with practical solutions for urban mobility, ecology, and digital governance.
